An Introduction to Howden Burn by Joyce Eccles. RMN.,Dip.

My name is Joyce Eccles I am the home manager at Howden Burn. We are committed to provide every resident with individual care, ensuring privacy, dignity and respect.

Our aim is to enhance quality of life by enabling the maintenance of personal skills and independence as well as links with family, friends and the community through social activities and community events.

Home activities and social events include Christmas/birthday parties, summer fairs, BBQs, Firework displays and music/exercise workshops. Community outings and events are accessed regularly (musicals at local theatres, carnivals, county/village shows and other attractions).

Howden Burn Care Home provides accommodation for the elderly mentally ill. The home comprises of 25 permanent beds, and there is also the facility to accommodate 3 day care clients Monday-Friday.

The atmosphere is informal and relaxed. The rooms and corridors are particularly bright and airy and all facilities are provided on the ground floor.

Other professional services, for example physiotherapist, dentists and opticians can be accessed as required. Hairdressing and Chiropody services are also available for a reasonable charge.

The home employs a highly qualified and motivated team of nurses who provide a specialist, high quality clinical service within a pleasant and homely environment with unlimited visiting.
